Hello Ninjas.
Interesting podcast. 2 quick thoughts about Logan's run:
There is a great supporting role in the film that is worth a mention, and that is Farrah Fawcett's hair. When Douglas Coupland created the cult of Farrah in his geek-fest novel Microserfs he must have been thinking of this film!

And I've recently watched "The Island". Isn't that just a big budget rip-off of Logan's Run? With bits of "Seconds" and "The Clonus Horror" thrown in?
Even the institute security guards' uniforms reminded me of the Sandmen. And the ending is pretty much the same with everyone from the institute wandering outside after the computer/holgram/death star has blown up.

Great podcast - looking forward to the next.

Hey guys! Once again a great episode.

I was happy to hear that the anime review was about Starblazers. This series was my first exposure to good anime back in the early '80s. I remember being shocked when main characters died. It definitely shattered my preconceptions on what an animated series could be.

You might be interested to know that there is talk about turning Starblazers into a live-action film. It would be interesting to see what they could do with this now, but I'm not sure if would make a good movie.

great show as always, ninjas. David was right - in the book, Sanctuary was a space station on orbit around Mars. The concept of the Elders or Ancients running the City was introduced in the TV series; in the book, it was a gigantic computer that ran the entire world.

I first saw this when I was thirteen. Even then (to me) the SPX were cheesy, and it was obviously shot in a mall somewhere. Box didn't creep me out - back then, if you wanted a humanoid robot, you grabbed an actor and covered him in foil.

Keep up the ass kicking, guys!
