We're actually playing around with dividing up the discussion... first we talk about the content of the topic, go into plot points, details, etc, then after a break, we go into the breakdown of the topic.

Just one of the things we're playing around with in terms of format.

A quick "note" I'm suggesting basically a dust-cover segment... Maybe even at the ending of the preceeding podcast. You folks usually do a pretty good job of prefacing about an upcomming event, but most the time not enough to even bait the hook with live bait, so I have to fall back on the TNT fishing methods... Well just a little something to think about.

Hey, how about a small suggestion about the show format. I'm not complaining or anything will listen anyway but well here goes.... How about a show in Two Act's.... first Act you give a general outline about the subject kinda like a hook. Sometimes.. well ok most times I don't have the time or inclination to be proactive about upcoming content (That and it' taken me 3 months to replace my Ipod, so I've been catching up). So when I do get caught up I'm not current with my reading/viewing assignment (school flashback). Then in the subsequent Act(s) y'all can get the hatchet out and dissect like you usually do (and expertly done IMHO).

In dividing these I can then determine whether to actually invest in it. Pause the cast, do the right thing, then finish the cast.

Well just a suggestion. Thnx for the podcast!

Gateway - I first read it as a teen, and didn't like it. Read it as an adult, and understood it all too well.

A Fire Upon the Deep - great contemporary space opera.

And Buckaroo Banzai - am I the only one who thinks that movie has not aged well?

Looking forward to all this kick-assiness!!!

Wow... Colossus: The Forbin Project. There's a blast from the past I haven't thought of in ages...

Plus, there's that new anniversary edition of Forbidden Planet...

Glad to see The day the Earth Stood Still in the schedule, as Vanamonde said, I hope Forbidden Planet is not far behind.

Whilst looking ahead is there any chance of some Asimov discussion in the near future. A discussion of the Foundation Saga from original trilogy to the the final trilogy by Brin, Bear and Benford would be interesting - though would require a significant amount of reading.

Alternatively, thinking of your time, what about one of his standalone novels such as The Gods Themselves or The End of Eternity?

"Curse you Bonzai! I'll see you in hell!"

Oh man, I love that movie. Don't suppose you could bump up the production schedule? :-)

Alas, Jesse, we did not. I did mention the book, but I haven't read it in at least 15 years, and I don't think Dave or Joe has ever read it (at least, not as of the time we were discussing the film).

Maybe we should do a special show where we do a followup discussion of "I Am Legend", especially since the movie is being remade, starring Will Smith.

The Omega Man should be fun, but I hope you ninjas save the deep discussion of the plot and the source material for a show devoted to I Am Legend, the original novel from Richard Matheson.

Re: The Day the Earth Stood Still

Looking forward to this one, along with Forbidden Planet, a classic of 50's movie scifi. A film with a message with an alien that wasn't a metaphor for communist invasion.
