Show #32 will be about “War for the Oaks”, a Locus Award-winning fantasy novel by Emma Bull.
Originally published in 1987, and republished in 2001 as a trade pb with this cover, this tale is about a Minneapolis singer who’s in between bands, and is being drafted into the battle between light and dark in the Seelie Court.
It’s got fairies and rock and roll. What else do you need to know?

This book kicks ass. I would not describe myself as a fan of fantasy. The unique setting of this story attracted my interest and I am glad that it did. If you haven’t read War For The Oaks and were thinking of skipping this episode of KAMN I strongly advise you to reconsider. Grab or order a copy today.
