Feature Discussion: Summer and guest host Michael J (comics columnist at Slice of SciFi) discuss H.G. Wells’ groundbreaking science fiction classic The Time Machine, also touching on the 1960 film adaptation by George Pal, and a little bit on the 2002 remake starring Guy Pearce.
The discussion wanders into a larger discussion about time travel and how it’s handled in other “Time Machine” remakes as well as other shows that deal with time travel, like Doctor Who and Syfy’s 12 Monkeys.
Summer had misplaced her original notes, and failed to mention Enrique Gaspar’s novel The Time Ship: A Chrononautical Journey (Early Classics of Science Fiction), which was originally published in 1887, 7 years before Wells’ The Time Machine, and was reprinted in 2012 by Wesleyan Press.
So, what do you think the 3 books were that George took with him back to the distant future in the original movie?
