The topic for Show #14 will be the 1980 film Flash Gordon, starring Sam J. Jones, Melody Anderson, and Max von Sydow.
What I’ve discovered about the DVD for this film is that it’s out of print, and therefore a highly priced collectible at Amazon. How does this movie go out of print?
KAMN Recording Schedule
I’m going to be putting up a calendar for Ninjas shows. It’s going to have our recording schedule (which is normally every other week), and it’ll have a breakdown of what topics we’ll be talking about when.
This will give everyone time to know what we’ll be talking about, and to go pick up said book or DVD beforehand.
Original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD
I’d heard that Lucas had no intention of ever doing this. It’ll be a real treat to watch Star Wars the way it was meant to be seen, with Han shooting first and no stupid T-Rex’s lumbering around in the back of every crowd scene.
Heat Vision and Jack
I thought you guys might want to see this pilot for a show spoofing Knight Rider and other similar classic scifi shows. It stars Jack Black as a NASA astronaut on the run with his talking motorcycle companion voiced by Owen Wilson.
Show #13: Pre-show Discussion
The topic of discussion for Show #13 will be Bruce Sterling’s 1996 novel, Holy Fire.
While it’s not set in the same universe as Schismatrix (I think), it deals with many of Sterling’s favorite subjects from that story: longevity, and technology as a tool for rebirth. There’s also the possibility that Jack Mangan will drop by to chat with us on this one
