KAMN Show #27: Highlander

connor_macleod

Dave and Brian go over the highlights of the movie, and some lively discussion about what does and doesn’t work for the story and the myth. It’s much easier to ignore the continent-hopping accents and origins than it is to ignore some of the plot problems. The humor and the wonderful acting by Clancy Brown truly shoot this movie to higher levels of appreciation, as well as some of the more unique camera work.

Show #28: Pre-show Discussion

Show #28, due out mid-March, will be on Vernor Vinge’s Hugo Award-winning “A Fire Upon the Deep”.

Start reading now… it’s about 600 pages of space-faring adventure!

Show #27: Pre-show Discussion

The Ninjas plus guests will be discussing Highlander, the 1986 Russell Mulcahy feature film. Chock full of mythic heroes and villains, and an abundance of swordplay, this movie not only spawned a successful and fun TV series spinoff, but it’s achieved “classic” status.

KAMN Show #26: Far-Seer

Joe Murphy is back, joining Dave and Summer in the discussion of Robert J. Sawyer’s 1992 novel, Far-Seer. This is the first book in the Quintaglio Ascension trilogy, and it features a planet of intelligent and advanced dinosaurs.

The post-surgery Kuato update

So, I’m at Mike’s and Lorrie’s, vegging out and slowly getting better. The doctors were unable to do much when then performed the surgery, which sucks beyond belief, but makes the recouperating easier.

I can’t believe the outpouring of love and generocity you have given me through all this. You have no idea how much it has meant to me. Thank you.

Show #26: Pre-show Discussion

Show #26 will be about the Robert J. Sawyer novel, “Far-Seer”.

Joe chose this one for us… sort of an allegorical tale about Galileo, only set in a world of intelligent and technologically advancing dinosaurs.

KAMN Show #25: Buckaroo Banzai

bbanzai06

Two Ninjas plus One discuss the 1984 cult classic film, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.

It’s a little hard to classify this movie because it pulls elements from so many different genres: a smattering of extraterrestrials, a lot of swashbuckling action, a little rock-n-roll, and a little romance.

News: Not So Good

They removed a large chunk of it to do more tests, and see if it can respond to and be manageable with chemo or radiation, but the results of those won’t be in for a while.

So please keep your thoughts and prayers with Joe and his dad, and we’ll have more updates as soon as they’re available.

Going in

Joe’s prepped, and as of 4:20pm, he was heading into pre-op.

Good wishes and positive thoughts required

This afternoon, Arizona time, Joe goes into surgery, where those with their A-game and their scalpels are going after Kuato.
